Baked Rice

Ingredients:

  • 1 c rice
  • 1 1/2 c boiling water
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cooking oil

For a larger batch,

  • 3 c rice
  • 4 1/2 c boiling water
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cooking oil

Process

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees
  2. Start water boiling in teapot (electric or stovetop), microwave, or in a small pot on the stove
  3. Add dry rice to a baking dish with a tight-fitting lid
  4. Sprinkle rice with salt and drizzle oil overtop the rice
  5. Add boiling water to rice in baking dish
  6. Gently stir to mix
  7. Place lid on baking dish
  8. Bake at 375 degrees for 23-28 minutes for white rice or 40-50 minutes for brown rice
  9. When done, gently fluff with fork or spatula
